Thoughts of Salmon

BEA102-0015

Each year the coastal brown bears rise from their dens in June. For some it is a time to raise their young and for others a time to reproduce. These bears have learned how to dig for clams, which allows them to collect enough nutrients mixed with the sedge grass they eat until the salmon runs start in July. It is an amazing sight to witness these bears clam, as each bear has a different way of digging.
